Learning to scuba dive at Denver Divers is Easy and Fun!

Open Water Diver: SSI Home Study Course

Step 1: Sign up and Orientation
To start your scuba adventure, you first need to come in to our dive facility and register for the class. You will need to fill out a medical form and student folder at this time. You will then receive your student kit (includes a brand new mouth piece) and we will schedule you for a 2-hour orientation for your upcoming class.

Step 2: Self pace independent home study and completion of homework (approx. 4-6 hours)

Step 3: SCUBA Training
Academic review in the classroom and in-water skill development training with highly qualified instructors at Denver Divers' indoor heated pool, designed specifically for scuba training. You will be responsible for providing your own personal equipment (mask, fins, and snorkel).
(1:4 instructor to student ratio, with a maximum of 8 students per class)

Step 4: Open Water Certification Dives
You will need to complete five open water certification dives (1 snorkel dive and 4 scuba dives) under the direct supervision of an instructor. Your instructor will evaluate your skills as you apply what you have learned during your academic and pool training to the open water. You will also learn practical lessons that can only be gained through real-world experience in the open water environment.

*We provide an additional FREE pool skill development session with one of our instructors prior to your certification dives. Please call Denver Divers for more information about our FREE Pool Practice, held every Monday for our students! 303-399-2877
